Our 3rd Annual Bowling Center Championship rolled into Parkway Lanes.  This event was created 3 years ago to continue to promote youth bowling in our great state.  Not only do the bowlers win scholarships but the winning centers receive a $500 donation to their junior league program. This year saw 35 teams of 5 or 175 bowlers compete.  We had 10 teams in Scratch and 25 Handicap Teams for this year’s event. In Scratch, Berks Lanes of Sinking Spring, PA took home the victory.  The team made up of bowlers from the Penn State Berks Bowling Team that bowls in a sanctioned league at Berks led their center to the title.  Berks was seeded 3rd going into our 6 team final.  They trailed Shell Lanes of NY and AMF Country Club Lanes of MD.  In their quarterfinal match, they defeated Leisure Lanes 996-971.  In the semi-final, they defeated AMF Country Club Lanes 1073-1039.  They then took on Shell Lanes in the final.  The match was exciting and came down to the 10th frame.  After a missed spare by Shell Lanes in the 10th, Berks’ anchor bowler, Jack Celmer, needed just a mark to win….and he got it.  Berks defeated Shell Lanes 963-960 and won the event. In Handicap, we saw Bowl-O-Rama #2 of Reading, PA, take home the title.  Bowl-O-Rama #2 led qualifying after 5 games.  In their semi-final match, they defeated their other team!  Bowl-O-Rama #2 defeated Bowl-O-Rama #1 823-711.  This advanced them to the title match vs Haja Rose Bowl #2.  Another close match took place but Bowl-O-Rama #2 prevailed…winning the match 803-741. Congrats to all our scholarship winners and Berks Lanes/Bowl-O-Rama for winning the $500 donations respectively to their programs.  Also, Congrats to Rob Desimone who shot 300 during qualifying.
