The Adult Bowlers Tour kicked off its newest season with a trip to Leisure Lanes in Lancaster PA.  This event was the first event with our new format for the season.  This year’s events saw some major changes to benefit our bowlers.  To begin, the finals format was expanded to include more bowlers….and the top Senior (over 45) and Woman in the field.  We also adjusted the entry to just $40 and guaranteed $500 to the winner.  Payouts saw the final cash spot receiving double their entry fee.

This first event saw 33 bowlers competing on the newly-created Kegel Pattern #3 by the PJBT.

This year’s first event went to John Boyer of Voorhees, NJ.  John was need the top of the leaderboard all day but never in the lead until the time when it counted!  He began his six game qualifying round with games of 192, 246, 189, 189, and 210.  In game 6 of qualifying, he shot a great game of 278.  That final game of qualifying boosted him into the lead of the event after qualifying with a score of 1304 (+104).  Leading after qualifying game Boyer a bye into the title match of the stepladder finals.  1st round top 6 cash cut was +47 for 6.  We had enough Senior entries to take one into the finals….but high senior Wayne Porr Sr was already in cut in 5th place.  We didn’t have enough women to carry one to the finals.

In the title match, Boyer took on #2 seed Jim Taylor.  Taylor had led the event all day until Boyer took the lead late.  It was only fitting that they faced off in the title match.  The title match went to John Boyer over Jim Taylor 206-191.  With Boyer’s win, he took home a $500 top prize for his win.

Next Adult Bowlers Tour event is Sunday, November 11 at Parkway Lanes in Allentown – event starts at 12Noon.
