Barna, six-year old quattrini win at haja rose bowl major

92 bowlers made it to Major #8 at Haja Rose Bowl in Allentown.  Special thanks to Our Family’s Pro Shop for their sponsorship. After some recent struggles, Tom Barna Jr. made it back to the winner’s circle.  He quietly qualified tied for 4th, then won all three games of match play.  In the four-person survivor final, he survived game one wihth 207.  He then caught fire, rolling 254 in the semifinal, then defeating Roger Harford Jr., 278-195.  Jack Celmer finished 3rd, and Layne Sandt was 4th.  The title is Barna’s 5th. It’s not too often we can say this… a six-year beat all the older kids.  Augie Quattrini put it all together to win in his debut.  He was third entering the final, after rolling his high game of 125, 54 pins over his average.  He survived the first two games, then defeated Ryan Goddard, 193-148 with handicap.  Darren Zombro III was third, and Isaac Erickson finished 4th. Eric Metz earned his entry to Junior Gold 2014. Walter Tomlin II shot 296 in qualifying.
