The PJBT continued its 21st Season with a trip to ABC North Lanes in Harrisburg for our 3rd Major of the season.  The event saw 52 bowlers take to the lanes.  25 in Scratch and 27 in Handicap.  This event was conducted on the Kegel #3 Pattern.

In Scratch, Kolby Bennett dominated from start to finish.  Bennett came out of the gate with a 229 qualifying game…and was the tournament leader.  He followed it up with solid games of 244, 222, 157, 223, and 215.  On a day when scores were low…Bennett led with +90 after 6 games and led the field by 59 pins. First round top 10 cut was -89.  Bennett maintained his lead thru the three games of match play heading into the finals.  Bennett had a bye to the title match….where he took on Matthew Forry for the title.  In the title match, Bennett got off to a quick start and never looked back.  Bennett defeated Forry 223-173 to take home the victory and the $300 top prize with glass bowling pin.

In Handicap, Abigail Sarmiento captured her first ever PJBT title.  Abigail, who is from the Rochester, NY, came into town to bowl both of our weekend events.  She finished in the top 5 on Saturday’s women’s only event and won on this day!  Sarimento entered the event with a 179 entering average (18 pins handicap per game).  Her qualifying scratch games were 156, 200, 184, 160, 150, and 189.  After qualifying, she sat at -53 and was seeded 4th entering match play.  First round top 12 cut was -119.  In match play, Sarimento won 2 of 3 games and propelled herself into 2nd place entering the finals.  She only trailed tournament leader Riley Smith by 4 pins after 8 games.  Sarimento entered the finals in Shootout #2 where she needed to beat two bowlers, which was #3 seed Andy Hoffman and #5 seed Jeremiah Mann.  Sarimento shot 171 and won the shootout over Hofffman (164) and Mann (158).  This advanced her to the title match vs Riley Smith.  In a close title match, Sarmiento pulled away late and defeated Smith 167-136 to earn the victory and $300 top prize with glass bowling pin.

No honor scores on this day so 300 Pot carries over to next week’s event at Jordan Lanes.
