The PJBT continued its Postseason Events with our 3rd Annual PA PJBT Masters Tournament presented by Bowlerx.com.  This event was started a couple of years ago to celebrate our 15th year of PJBT.  The event has been a hit and we have continued the tradition.  This unique format 2-day event sees PJBT bowlers compete in 2 divisions for 12 games of qualifying.  We conduct 2 5-game blocks at different bowling centers and on different lane conditions.  This year’s event saw 5 Games be bowled at Town & Country Lanes in Bethlehem and 5 Games at Haja Rose Bowl in Allentown.  After 12 games, the top 16 bowlers in each division advanced to our double-elimination Masters Bracket for the finals.

This year the unannounced patterns were Town & Country (short – Stockholm) Haja Rose Qualifying (Long – Tokyo) and finals on Sunday was (Medium – Seoul).

In Scratch, Andrew Dekowski survived the field of 40 Scratch Bowlers to Win the title!  Dekowski began the day bowling well on the short pattern.  With the exception of 1 game out of 5….he was near the top of the leaderboard with games of 259, 227, 206, and 256.  In the second round of qualifying, Dekowski rolled a consistent block.  He shot games of 191, 190, 193, 165, and 212.  After 10 games of qualifying, Dekowski stood at +66 (2066) and was seeded 7th for the top 16 bracket on Sunday.  16th place cut for scratch to advance to Sunday was -38.  Dekowski began his day Sunday in a match vs #10seed Ben Rynes.  Each match is 2 games total pins.  Dekowski ran the bracket all the way!  He defeated Rynes 448-339.  In his Round of 16 match, he took on #2seed Andrew Lazarchick.  Dekowski won this match easily 426-261.  In the Round of 8, Dekowski took on #3seed Michael Martell.  In a close match, Dekowski won 416-404.  This advanced Dekowski into the winners bracket final match vs #1seed Conner Egan.  Dekowski defeated Egan 428-386.  This win advanced Dekowski into the title match vs the contenders bracket winner for the title.  On this day, that bowler was #13seed Dylan Zimmerman.  Dekowski defeated Zimmerman 402-380 to take down the defending champion of the event….and win it!  Andrew Dekowski earned a $1500 scholarship for his victory and his glass bowling pin.

In Handicap, Allison Stackewicz followed up her good bowling last week at the Invitational Championship Weekend events….with a victory in the Masters!  Stackewicz entered the event with a 102 average and 88 pins handicap per game.   For 10 qualifying games, Stackewicz shot 1074 scratch and with handicap was at 1954 (-46).  This score had her seeded 2nd of 16 bowlers in the finals.  The patterns played tough for our handicap bowlers as the leader, Sarah Fenicle, was -38.  16th place cut was -303.  On Sunday, Stackewicz started with a match vs #15seed Lauren Bowersox.  She won that match 448-353.  In the Round of 16, Stackewicz took on #10seed Kalli Bzdil.  This match was interesting because it ended in A TIE!  After a 2 frame rolloff…Stackewicz defeated Bzdil 39-19 in the rolloff.  They tied at 346 for 2 games.  Stackewicz moved to the Round of 8 vs #3 seed Jennifer Fitts.  Stackewicz beat Fitts 430-394.  This advanced her into the winners bracket match vs Jennifer Williams.  Allison outlasted Jennifer 431-367.  Stackewicz moved onto the title match vs Contenders Bracket Winner Jennifer Williams.  Williams won the contenders bracket final to return back to a matchup with Stackewicz for the title.  Williams needed to beat Stackewicz twice to win.  In Match 1 of 2 games….Williams beat Stackewicz, handing Allison her first loss of the day.  Williams beat Stackewicz 428-418.  This set up a 2nd and final 2 game match for the title.  In this match, Stackewicz got out to an early lead and never looked back.  Stackewicz defeated Williams in the final match 419-314.  Stackewicz won the $1000 top prize and glass bowling pin for the win!
