The PJBT continued its 18th season with our final 21 and Under Doubles Event of the Season.  Hiester Lanes was our host.  Hiester Lanes was nice enough to host our event after changes to the Men’s State Tournament saw Hiesters hosting our Men’s State Tournament.  This event usually gets close to a sellout every year….and this year was no exception.  This year’s event saw 59 teams or 118 bowlers compete on the Stone Street Pattern.  We had 31 doubles teams in Scratch while Handicap was 28 teams.  Despite being a modified house-like pattern….bowlers were able to post some good scores.

In Scratch, Alex Glinski stayed hot….capturing another victory on the year….and this one became his 10th career PJBT title.  His partner, Kurtis Stidd, captured his 9th career PJBT title.  Glinski/Stidd bowled well all day.  They shot 426 and 405 for the first 2 qualifying games.  Then they got hot.  They shot 508, and 519.  They finished qualifying with 416 and had a big lead.  The top 12 teams advanced to Round 2 on this day….cut was +54.  In Round 2, Glinski/Stidd shot 394, 407, and 430.  The field closed in on them….but ultimately they maintained their lead entering the baker format stepladder final.  In the title match, Glinski/Stidd took on #2 seed Tristan Leyen/Andrew Lazarchick.  This match saw many strikes!  In the end, Glinski/Stidd outbowled Leyen/Lazarchick 245-221 for the title.  Glinski/Stidd split a $400 top scholarship prize and each received a plaque for their win.

In Handicap, Jennifer Williams & Trinity Yates captured the Doubles Win.  Williams/Yates entered the event with a 382 average and only received 16 pins handicap per game.  They bowled some great scratch games.  They had 463, 412, 359, 384, and 405.  They were near the top of the leaderboard after qualifying.  The top 12 teams advance and cut was -55.  In Round 2, Williams/Yates shot 396, 380, and 376 to sneek into the tournament lead by just 1 pin!  They were the #1 seed entering the finals.  In the title match, they actually took on the #4 seed team David & Darrin Swavely.  The Swavely’s were trying to walk the ladder….as they earned their way into the title match by winning 3 straight stepladder matches.  In the title match, their run was stopped by the girls!  In a close title match….Williams/Yates defeated Swavely/Swavely 195-181 to take home the title.  Williams/Yates split a $400 scholarship and took home the champion plaques.

All in all, we gave away over $2500 in scholarships on this event!

There were no honor scores on this day so the Perfect 300 Pot will carry over to next week.

Next Week:  The PJBT returns to ABC West Lanes in Mechanisburg, PA, for a regular season singles event.  We hope to see everyone at that event!  Sunday, April 9th, 12Noon Start Time.
