The PJBT starts to come down the home stretch on our 16th season with event #34 of the season.  A regular season singles event at ABC North Lanes in Harrisburg.  This event was our last stop for the year in the Harrisburg area, as Harrisburg prepares to begin hosting the Adult Men’s PA State Tournament for the next 2-3 months.

On this day, we saw a nice crowd of 80 bowlers come out for the event, including 48 bowlers competing in Scratch and 32 in Handicap.

Thomas Gunter of Maryland captured his 2nd ever PJBT title in Scratch.  Thomas captured his 1st title in PJBT back in 2013…followed it up with a singles victory on this day.  Gunter got off to a hot start and never looked back!  In qualifying, he shot games of 210, 257, 278, 224, and 279 for a 5 game block of 1248 (+248).  He led the 48 bowler field into match play.  In match play, he maintained his lead with solid games.  He continued to lead the field entering the finals.   In the stepladder, Gunther took on Greg Tack for the title.  Tack, who was a 3rd seed entering the finals….won 2 matches to make it to the final.  Tack defeated Tyler Dautich 227-223 and Christian Francis, our 2nd seed, 238-222.  In the title match, Gunther grabbed the lead early and never looked back.  Gunter defeated Tack in the title match 224-204 to take home the title and the $250 top scholarship prize.

Nathan Hartman of Pine Grove, PA, captured his 2nd PJBT title of his career.  Hartman won the 2nd time this year, following up his major title earlier this season.  Hartman’s road to victory was tougher.  He was seeded 6th after qualifying with a 5 game score of 1069 or +69.  In match play, he won all 3 of his matches and propelled himself into the 3rd seed position entering the finals.  He only trailed tournament leader Blayne Tasillo and 2nd seed Jocelyn Hood.  Hartman won 3 straight stepladder games to win the title.  First, he bowled 4th seed Erin Strickland.  Hartman defeated Strickland 209-178.  Next, Hartman took on Jocelyn Hood in the semi-final match.  This match was a struggle for both….but Hartman prevailed 158-123 to advance to the title match vs Blayne Tasillo.  In the title match, Hartman started fast and maintained his lead thru the match.  Hartman defeated Tasillo in the title match 233-202 to capture the title and the $250 top scholarship prize.

Congrats also goes out to Ryan Carlisi who shot a perfect 300 Game during qualifying.  Carlisi won the 300 Pot, which was worth $27.
