The PJBT continued its season with a regular season singles event at ABC North Lanes in Harrisburg, PA.   This event, #38 on the schedule, saw 46 competitors take to the lanes on the Kegel Gateway Arch pattern.  Format was our normal singles format with 5 games qualifying / top 40% bowling 3 games of match play – top 5 Bowlers advance to stepladder final.

In Scratch, Tom Hankey captured his 4th PJBT title of his career.   Hankey had a solid qualifying round.  His games were 204, 247, 277, 213, and 232 put him at +173.  He was in 3rd place after qualifying.  First round cut for qualifying in 10th place was +87.  Hankey made a big run during match play.  He went 3-0 with games of 248, 254, and 259.  After 8 games, Hankey was at +424 and was the leader entering the stepladder final.  In the title match, Hankey took on #2 seed Cody Brunner.  Hankey got off to a quick start in the title match and made sure he shut out his opponent early.  Hankey defeated Brunner 236-163.  Tom Hankey won a $200 scholarship and plaque for his win.

In Handicap, Cameron Shockey got his 1st PJBT title of the year.  Shockey entered the event with a 171 average and 26 pins handicap.  Shockey’s qualifying scratch games were 143, 209, 171, 267, and 179.  Shockey rode the wave of a big 4th game….and was at +99 after qualifying.  He was seeded in 3rd place.  10th place cut for qualifying after 5 games was -4.  Shockey went 2-1 in match play with games of 235, 218, and 190.  These wins were enough to propel Shockey into the tournament lead by 40 pins entering the stepladder finals.  In the title match, Cameron Shockey took on #3 seed Desmond Brown.  Shockey bowled an amazing 260 game in the final match to win!  Shockey defeated Brown 260-210.  Shockey won a $200 scholarship and plaque for his win.

In all, we gave out over $1000 in scholarships on the day.  No honor scores were bowled at this event this week.
