The PJBT continued its 20th Anniversary Season with a trip to Berks Lanes in Sinking Spring, PA for a regular season singles event.  On this day, 57 bowlers took to the lanes on a Kegel Recreational Pattern condition.  We had 32 scratch bowlers competing and 25 in Handicap.

In Scratch, Isaac Erickson. of Lititz, PA, won his 5th career PJBT title and his 3rd of the season.  Erickson began the day with a solid 5 game qualifying round.  He bowled well except for 1 game.  He came out of the game with a 255 game and then shot 146.  However, he recovered well to shoot 216, 237, and 209 for +63 for 5.  Erickson was seeded 9th out of 14 bowlers advancing to Round 2 match play.  14th place 1st Round Cut was +32 for 5.  In match play, Erickson made his run at the top of the leaderboard.  He went 3-0 in match play with games of 279, 223, and 232.  This propelled Erickson into the tournament lead after 8 games….entering the stepladder final.  In the title match, Erickson took on #4 seed Gene Blair of Maryland.  Blair had won all 3 of his stepladder matches to make to the title match vs Erickson.  Isaac defeated Gene in the title match 212-199 for the victory.  Erickson won a $200 scholarship and plaque from Crown Trophy for his win.

In Handicap, Jonathan Pollison captured his 1st PJBT title of the season.  Pollison entered the event with a 189 average and 9 pins handicap per game.  He started fast, shooting 255 scratch in Game 1 of qualifying.  He followed it up with games of 194, 216, 199, and 138 for +47 after 5.  He was seeded in 3rd place out of 10 entering match play.  1st Round 10th place cut was -13.  In match play, Pollison went 2-1 with games of 149, 180, and 213.  He slightly slipped on the leaderboard to 4th place….but was high enough to qualify for the stepladder finals.  He had a long road to victory….but walked the entire ladder!  First, Pollison defeated Andrew Barnica 203-191.  Next, he defeated Joshua Wolfram 192-169.  In the semi-final, Pollison defeated Logan Chappell 212-180.  This advanced him to the title match to take on Jewel Johnson.  Johnson, who won the women’s event the day before….was looking for a weekend sweep!  Pollison ended that with a 199-189 victory over Jewel Johnson.  Jonathan Pollison won a $200 scholarship and plaque for his win.

Congratulations go out also to Gene Blair, who shot a perfect 300 game during qualifying and took home the 300 Pot of $140.  During match play, Charlize Wanner also bowled a perfect 300 game!  Congrats to both of them.

In all, we gave away over $1200 in scholarships.  Thanks to all 57 bowlers who came out.  Next week:  PJBT rolls into Jordan Lanes for our PJBT/JBT Combined Event next Sunday at 10:30am.  Sign up online at pjbtbowlingseries.com.
