Kennedy & Quinn Win At Chacko’s

On Sunday, Nov 16th, 55 Bowlers rolled into Chacko’s Bowl in Wilkes-Barre, PA, for our first cold region event of the year.  This event was our first of a few this season up in the northern part of PA.  We had 26 bowlers compete in Scratch & 29 in Handicap.In Scratch, Brian Kennedy, of Philadelphia, took home the Scratch title.  Kennedy led the scratch field after 5 games of qualifying with +219 or 1219.  In match play, he shot 695 in 3 games and won 2 of his 3 matches.  However, he was seeded 3rd because he was passed by leader Corey Callacki and 2nd seed Paul Beaudoin.  Corey led Brian by just 11 pins and Paul was 3 pins ahead of Kennedy.  In the finals, Kennedy defeated Tyler Vitelli 264-225 in his first match of the finals.  Kennedy then faced Beaudoin in the semi-final.  Kennedy defeated Beaudoin 216-170.  In the title match, Kennedy defeated Callacki 235-217 and walked the ladder to take the title.

In Handicap, we had one of the greatest finishes in junior bowling.  It was exciting to see the crowd cheer loudly on every shot.  Lindsey Quinn squeaked out the title and captured her 1st ever PJBT title.  Quinn was seeded 6th after qualifying at +69.  She trailed leader Emma Biniek by almost 100 pins.  Quinn made up ground in match play shooting 558 scratch for 3….combining that with her 54 pins per game and 3 match play wins….she boosted herself into the tournament lead by just 8 pins entering the finals.  Kennedy took home the $200 top prize.In the title match, Quinn took on Anthony Remley.  Quinn entered the finals with a 141 average and Remley with a 158 entering average.  The strikes started flowing for both of them.  Remley struck out in the 10th frame and shot a scratch 243 game!  Quinn needed to strike out to win the match by 1 pin.  She got the 1st strike and the crowd went wild.  Her 2nd shot was also a strike and the crowd went crazy.  She needed a strike to win and 9 was a tie.  She thru a wide shot but it hooked back….carried…and she got the 3rd and final strike to win the epic match 244-243.  It was an amazing performance by both Lindsey and Anthony.  They should both be very proud.  Quinn took home the $200 top prize.

Congrats also to Tyler Vitelli who shot 300 during qualifying and won the 300 Pot for $137 scholarship.
