Lazarchick & Jaquith Take Home Major Titles at Leisure Lanes

The PJBT continued its 18th Season with our 2nd Major of the Year.  Our 2nd Major was conducted at Leisure Lanes in Lancaster, PA.  This event was a special major format conducted on the WTBA Melbourne Pattern.  On this day, we had 95 bowlers compete, 66 competing in Scratch and 35 in Handicap.  The format for the 2nd major event was 6 qualifying games.  The top 40% of each division bowled an additional 3 games of match play.  After 9 games, the top 6 advanced to our live streaming major finals.  Format for finals was 2 shootouts with 3 bowlers.  Match 1 was 4-5-6 winner advancing.  Winner advanced to take on 2-3 seeds.  Winner of second shootout took on top seed in a 1 game match for the title.

In Scratch, Andrew Lazarchick, of New Jersey, captured his first ever career PJBT title.  Lazarchick became the 3rd different bowler and 4th so far this year to win a scratch title that is not from PA.  Through 4 events this year, we do not have a winner from PA in scratch.  Lazarchick led qualifying with games of 222, 131, 217, 274, 237, and 205 at 1286 (+86).  He led the field by 51 pins entering match play.  In match play, he extended his lead with good games and victories.  After 9 games, he stood at +248 and remained tournament leader entering the finals.  In the title match, Lazarchick took on 2nd seed Anthony Neuer.  Lazarchick defeated Neuer in the title match 209-195 to take home the title.  Lazarchick won a glass bowling pin and a $300 top scholarship prize.  Scratch paid out the top 10 finishers on this day.

In Handicap, Bethany Jaquith captured her 2nd career PJBT title and 1st Major of this year.  Jaquith started off qualifying with games of 93, 82, 84, 100, 115, and 79.  Jaquith received 100 pins handicap a game.  After qualifying, Jaquith stood in 4th place at 1163 (-37).  She only trailed tournament leader Emma Parenteau by about 70 pins.  Jaquith bowled decent games and maintained her position in the field during match play.  Entering the finals, Jaquith was seeded 4th out of 6 finalists.  In Shootout 1, Jaquith took on Brendan Hunsicker and Matthew Meehan.  Jaquith survived with the win 220-182-171.  In Shootout 2, Jaquith took on Nate Davy & Breanne Hood.  Jaquith dominated the match and made sure she would advance.  She shot 238 with handicap and beat Davy/Hood 238-181-174.  Jaquith advanced to take on Emma Parenteau for the title.  This match was a survival of the fittest match.  The lead went back and forth….but in the end….Jaquith defeated Parenteau 149-147 to take home the title.  Jaquith won $300 top scholarship prize and glass bowling pin for win.
