Schell Makes It Back-to-Back Wins; Pope Victorious at East Lincoln

The PJBT continued its 21st Season with its 21st Event of the Year….a Regular Season Singles Event at East Lincoln Lanes in York, PA.  On this day we had 40 bowlers competing with 20 in Each Division of Scratch and Handicap.  Lane Pattern was Bourbon Street.

In Scratch, Jordan Schell made it two wins in a row with a Singles Victory.  Jordan captured victory last week at the Midway Lanes adult junior event.  Schell worked his way from the bottom to the top on this day.  Schell went 209, 202, 172, 259, and 191 for 1033 during qualifying.  Jordan was the 8th place cut line with this score….leaving his brother Kyle outside the cut by 1 pin!  In match play, Schell made his move….going 3-0 in his matches.  Schell boosted himself from 8th place to 2nd place entering the stepladder finals.  He only trailed tournament leader Gene Blair.  Schell entered the stepladder final in the semi-final match vs Maribeth Baker.  Schell defeated Baker 205-190.  This advanced Schell into the title match vs Blair.  In a close title match, Schell outlasted Blair 232-226 for the victory.  Schell earned a $200 scholarship and plaque for his win.

In Handicap, Ayden Pope captured his 1st title of the year.  Pope won bowling with his right hand for this season.  Pope, a normal left handed bowler…hurt his shoulder and is now bowling right handed starting this year.  Pope qualified 2nd of 20 bowlers in qualifying with games of 126, 166, 185, 172, and 174.  Pope entered with 132 avg/61 hdcp pins per game.  Pope went 2-1 in match play and maintained his 2nd place position entering the finals.  Pope only trailed tournament leader Dakota Shue.  Pope faced off against Vincent Biehn in the semi-final and won by 1 pin!  220-219.  This advanced Pope into the finals against Shue.  In the title match, Pope outbowled Shue 193-158 to win.  Ayden Pope for his win got $200 scholarship and plaque for his win.

Thanks to all 40 who came out.  No honor scores were bowled on this day.
