The PJBT continued its regular season with our 39th event of the year….our Mother’s Day Edition of a PJBT Event.  This year’s event was held at Jordan Lanes in Allentown PA.  We want to thank them for hosting us.  The location of this event was changed later in the year after our normal scheduled center, Cedar Lanes, is re-building in a new location currently in Lebanon.

On this day, 62 athletes took to the lanes on Mother’s Day.  We had 38 bowlers in Scratch and 24 in Handicap.  All athletes were competing on the WTBA London Pattern.  This event was our last sport shot event of the regular season.  Our winners today were lucky enough to have their moms in attendance for Mother’s Day and were able to give their moms something to celebrate!!

In Scratch, Zachary Vitelli of New Jersey, took home the title.  The road to victory was an uphill battle, but Vitelli pulled it off.  This title was Zach’s 1st PJBT Scratch title and 2nd title of his career.  He won his 1st career title in 2009 in Handicap.  He began qualifying with games of 186, 189, 193, 189, and 210.  Vitelli was at 967 or -33.  He stood tied for 9th place entering the 3 game match play round.  The 14th place qualifying cut for 5 games was -68.  Vitelli made his move in match play.  He went 2-1 with games of 188, 199, and 236.  Vitelli was seeded 4th entering the 5 person stepladder round.  Vitelli then walked the ladder to victory.  It was an interesting stepladder….Vitelli seemed to get lined up while every opponent seemed to struggle on the finals pair.  In match 1, Vitelli defeated #5 seed Dylan Zimmerman 211-152.  Vitelli then took on Greg Tack in Match 2.  Vitelli outlasted Tack 229-214.  In the semi-final, Vitelli took on Michael Martell.  Vitelli was lined up and Martell just could not find a consistent line.  Vitelli won this match easily 227-168.  Vitelli advanced to the title match vs tournament leader Bradley Crouse.  Vitelli started strong and never stopped.  He shot a tournament high for him of 261 and won the title 261-208 over Crouse.  Vitelli won the plaque and $200 top prize for his title.

In Handicap, Breanne Hood, won her 4th Handicap title of the season.  Hood, our hottest Handicap bowler this year….continued her success on this day.  Hood entered the event with a 101 entering average.  Her road to victory was also a battle.  Hood shot games in qualifying of 119, 87, 120, 94, and 115.  She stood at 980 with her handicap after qualifying (-20).  She was tied for 9th place while the 12th place cutoff for qualifying was -57.  Hood went 2-1 in match play with games of 145, 99, and 132.  After 8 games, Breanne had jumped from 9th to 2nd place entering the finals.  Hood entered the finals in the semi-final match vs Alex Berg.  Hood defeated Berg 169-135 to advance to the title match vs tournament leader MariBeth Baker.  The title match went frame for frame.  Hood finished the match first and shot 157 with her handicap.  She forced Baker to double in the 10th to win.  Baker didn’t strike on her first ball in the 10th and the title went to Hood.  Hood defeated Baker in the final 157-133.  Hood won the plaque and the $200 top scholarship prize.

We had no honor scores on this day so the 300 Pot will rolloff to next week in Harrisburg.
