The PJBT continued its 17th Season with its first event on the 2016 Calendar.  This event was also our 20th event of the year and the halfway point of our season.  This event was conducted at Hiester Lanes in Reading, PA.  We got the year off to a great start with 97 bowlers coming out for this event.  Due to the large amount of entries, we raised the top prize to a $250 scholarship in each division and paid out the top 10 bowlers in each division with scholarships.  Of the 97 bowlers, we had 48 competing in Scratch and 49 in Handicap.

In Scratch, Dylan Zimmerman captured his 3rd title of the season.  Zimmerman was seeded in 2nd place after 5 games of qualifying.  Zimmerman shot a perfect game of 300 during Game 3 of qualifying.  Being he was in the 300 pot, he won $105 for his perfect game.  Zimmerman only trailed tournament leader Colby Reichenbach.  Zimmerman shot 1207 (+207) for qualifying.  The top 20 bowlers advanced to match play.  The cut for the first round was +85.  In Match Play, Zimmerman won 2 of his 3 matches and shot 258 in Game 1 of Match Play.  This helped him maintain his 2nd seed position in the field entering the stepladder final.  Zimmerman only trailed the new tournament leader Andrew Blake by 25 pins.  In the semi-final match, Zimmerman took on 3rd seed Anthony Neuer.  Zimmerman defeated Neuer 246-224.  This advanced Zimmerman into the title match vs Blake.  Zimmerman started off strong with strikes early and Blake could never string strikes together.  Blake struggled to get his ball to the pocket on the title match pair while Zimmerman pulled away.  Zimmerman took the title from Blake 245-181.  Zimmerman captured the $250 top scholarship prize and awards from Crown Trophy.

In Handicap, Brett Hillman captured his 1st PJBT title.  Bret & his brother Brandon had stole the spotlight on this day.  Both of them were near the top of the leaderboard all day during qualifying.  Brett was seeded 3rd after 5 games while Brett’s brother Brandon was seeded 2nd.  They both trailed tournament leader Josh Honish.  Brett Hillman shot 1172 (+172) during the qualifying round.  We had 20 bowlers advance to match play.  First round cut was +41.  In Match Play, Brett only won 1 of 3 matches but still bowled some great scratch games of 192, 235, and 192.  Despite only winning 1 match, Brett propelled himself into the tournament lead.  In the finals, Brett Hillman took on Owen Fink.  Fink defeated Brett’s brother Brandon in the semi-final match 204-138.  Brett got off a hot start in the title match while Fink looked like he was out of gas.  Fink, who was only 6 years old, was bowling his 10th game of the day in the match.  Hillman took the title over Fink 234-152.  Brett won the $250 top scholarship prize and award for the title.

Congratulations to Dylan Zimmerman on his perfect game of 300 for $105 scholarship win and Alex Blood.  Alex was our 4th place finisher in Scratch.  Alex shot a perfect 300 Game During Game 1 of the Finals.  Blood won his first stepladder match with the perfect game but was not in the 300 Pot.  A pair of perfect games on this day!
