The PJBT kicked off its 22nd Season with its Opening Major Event at 222 Dutch Lanes.  Due to COVID restrictions, we were maxed out at a 90 bowler field and we had a sellout!  90 Bowlers took to the lanes on PJBT Kegel Created Pattern #2.  The format was 6 games…top 40% of bowlers bowled 3 additional match play games.  After 9 games, the top 4 bowlers advanced to the Major Final 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3, winners bowl for the title.

The first Scratch title of the year went to Darren Zombro III of Lebanon, PA.  Zombro came out of the gate with a strong qualifying round.  This day saw scores higher than expected.  Zombro qualified 6th out of a field of 57 with games of 225, 268, 223, 247, 256 & 199.  The first cut for 22nd place was +94 after 6 games.  Zombro advanced himself in match play from 6th to 2nd by winning his matches.  He only trailed tournament leader Riley Celmer entering the finals.  Zombro’s semifinal match saw him take on #3 seed Charles Gillenwater.  Zombro shot a strong 268 game to win the match over Gillenwater’s 221.  This advanced him to the title match to take on Riley Celmer.  Celmer won his semifinal match over #4 Jack Konrad 278-235.  In the title match, Zombro outlasted a great game by Celmer with a great game of his own!  Zombro defeated Celmer 268-235 to capture the title and the $300 Scholarship/Trophy.

The first Handicap title of the year went to Jacob Perryman of Upper Chichester, PA.  Perryman entered the event with a 170 entering average and 27 pins handicap per game.  His scratch qualifying games were 200, 186, 192, 199, 202, and 202.  He stood at +143 after 6 and was seeded 4th out of 33 bowlers.  Perryman maintained his 4th seed position thru match play and got himself into the finals.  He did not let being the lowest seed to make the finals phase him!  He defeated tournament leader Lacey Slaymaker in the semi-final match 170-158.  This advanced him to the title match to take on #2 seed Andy Hoffman.  Hoffman won his semi-final match over #3 seed Brianna Palasik 190-178.  Perryman started the title match hot and never looked back.  The title match saw Perryman defeat Hoffman 217-156.  Jacob took home the $300 top Scholarship prize and trophy for his win.

Congrats to ALL our honor score bowlers of the day.  There was a bunch!  We saw 3 300 Games bowled by Mason Doan, Andrew Barnica & Maya Avilez.  Doan & Avilez were in the 300 Pot…each earning them an $87 scholarship bonus.  Keith Lerch rolled an 11-in-a-row 298 game and we saw 2 11-in-a-row 290 Games bowled by Riley Celmer & Jordan Schell.  Awesome day to everyone.
