Alex Cavagnaro Wins First Adult Event of Season 6

The BuddiesProShop.com Adult Bowlers Tour began its 6th Season with our opening Scratch Singles Tournament at Leisure Lanes in Lancaster, PA.  This event was conducted on the challenging WTBA Melbourne Pattern.  This event saw 44 scratch bowlers take to the lanes hoping to win the guaranteed top prize of $1000.  The format was 6 games of qualifying with a top 5 stepladder final.  Every 1:5 bowlers

Alex Cavagnaro, of New Jersey, captured the top prize and title.  Cavagnaro started off slow with games of 168, 209, and 172.  After 3 games, Alex was not in the cash line.  However, his game 4 was 255.  On a day when scores were low, this helped Cavagnaro toward the top of the leaderboard.  He followed up the 255 game with games of 202 and 232.  After 6 qualifying games, Cavagnaro stood at 1238 (+38) and was seeded in 3rd place entering the finals.  Cavagnaro only trailed tournament leader Scott Denlinger and 2nd seed Matthew O’Grady.

In the stepladder finals, Cavagnaro entered in Match 2 of the finals.  He took on 5th seed Isaac Kim on a fresh oiled pattern for the finals.  In a close match, Cavagnaro snuck out a victory over Kim 171-170.  He advanced into the semi-final match to take on Matthew O’Grady.  This match started off with Cavagnaro behind but he battled back late to squeak out another victory.  Cavagnaro defeated O’Grady 183-180.  This advanced Cavagnaro to the title match vs Scott Denlinger.  In the title match, Cavagnaro lead early and never looked back.  Cavagnaro defeated Denlinger in the title match 188-160.  Despite not shooting over 200 for 3 games in the finals….Cavagnaro took home the title.  Cavagnaro won $1000 for his victory.
