The PJBT kicked off its 25th Anniversary Season with a trip to 222 Dutch Lanes for our Kickoff Event.  This event is always one of our biggest events of the year…being that some college bound bowlers have not returned yet and the excitement to kickoff a new season.

This year did not disappoint with 103 Bowlers coming out to compete….we had 67 bowlers competing in Scratch and 36 in Handicap.

The format for our first Major was 6 Games of Qualifying – Top 40% of each Field advanced to the Eliminator Round.  There were 3 eliminator games bowled with scores carrying forward.  After 9 games, the top 4 bowlers in each division advanced to the Major Format Bracket Final.  All finals for majors are conducted with a fresh Kegel pattern that we started the day with and special GOLD pins for the finals.

In Scratch, Tyler Miller captured his 1st career PJBT Title.  On a day that the pattern kept scores low….Tyler qualified for the finals in 2nd place of 67.  He shot consistent games of 183, 212, 186, 183, 204, and 145 during qualifying.  Despite the one low game, he was near the top of the leaderboard.  In the eliminator round, he shot 190, 234, and 212 to capture 2nd place entering the finals.  He only trailed tournament leader Brady Weilamann.  In the bracket finals, Miller defeated Brendan Hunsicker 195-184.  In the title match, Miller outlasted Nick Trentler 181-171 in route to victory.  Tyler captured $300 Scholarship for win and Glass Bowling Pin.

In Handicap, Sydnee Kleckner was victorious.  Kleckner qualified 3rd after 9 games of qualifying and eliminator rounds.  She shot -46 with handicap for 9 games.  In the finals, Kleckner got a semi-final match victory over Ben Strickland 160-129.  In the title match, Kleckner had a close match with tournament leader Gracie Karmazyn.  The match came down to the last shot in the 10th frame.  In the end, Kleckner captured a 4-pin victory over Karmazyn 170-166.  Kleckner also won $300 in victory and a Glass Bowling Pin.

In all, we gave away $2,785 in scholarships on the day.  We paid out the top 11 finishers in Scratch and 6 in Handicap.  Plus, the top girls finishers received bonus scholarships.
