Gonzales & Karmazyn Capture 1st Girls Only Titles of the Year

The PJBT continued its season with its first GIRLS ONLY event of the 25th Anniversary Season.  The PJBT offers multiple girls only events during the season with a GIRLS ONLY invitational at the end of the season.

This event was our 1st Girls Only Event at ABC North Lanes in Harrisburg.  There was 31 Girls competing on this day with 11 in Scratch and 20 in Handicap.

Format was 5 Games Qualifying and then 1 Eliminator Game to get us down to our finalists.  For the finals, we did a 2-Game Stepladder in Scratch for the top 3 Bowlers and a 3-Game Stepladder for the top 4 in Handicap.

In Scratch, Rayana Gonzalez captured the title.  Rayana shot games of 161, 235, 216, 227 and 183 During Qualifying.  The field was cut to the top 6.  The top 6 bowled 1 game to get to the top 3 for the finals.  Gonzalez shot 212 and qualified 3rd of 3 for the finals with +34 for 6 games.  Gonzales then walked the 3-Person ladder to win.  She won her semi-final stepladder match over Carly Wireman 204-189.  In the title match, she defeated tournament leader Madilyn Bogovic 244-211.  For Rayana’s victory, she earned a $200 Scholarship and Plaque.

In Handicap, Gracie Karmazyn captured the win.  Gracie led the field most of the day.  She was the tournament leader after 5 games of qualifying.  In the eliminator game, she shot a scratch 180 game that propelled her into the lead at +162 for 6 games.  In the title match, Karmazyn defeated #2 seed Lyla Elensky 193-171 to win.  She got a $200 Scholarship & Plaque.

In all, we gave away $1102 in scholarships.  Thanks to all 31 Girls who bowled and Mike Maus/Lane Tamers Pro Shop for sponsoring the event.
