The PJBT continued its 19th season with a Regular Season Singles Event at Hanover Bowling Centre in Hanover, PA.  This event was a challenge event on the Route 66 Pattern.  On this day we saw 31 athletes take on the lanes in route of victory.  Format was regular season format for PJBT.

In Scratch, Jack Celmer captured his 21st career PJBT victory and now is by himself in the record books as the 2nd winningest bowler in PJBT history….passing Kevin Beers.  Jack now only trails his brother Travis Celmer for the most victories ever at 24.  Celmer was seeded 3rd after qualifying with games of 214, 210, 195, 204, and 237.  Celmer shot 1060 (+60).  In Match Play, Celmer lost some ground….going 0-1-1.  He shot solid games of 224, 222, and 207 but could not pull out a victory.  He fell to 3rd place but was still in the stepladder finals.  To win, Celmer had to win 3 games and that is what he did.  His first match was a victory over Kolby Bennett 226-201.  In the semi-final, Celmer defeated Brandon Updike 216-194.  This advanced him to the title match vs tournament leader Daniel Althouse.  In a close match, Celmer was victorious….winning the match 227-195.  With the win, Celmer received a $200 scholarship and plaque for his win.

In Handicap, Desmond Brown captured the win.  Brown entered the day with a 174 average and 23 pins handicap.  He shot scratch qualifying games of 222, 154, 169, 204, and 183.  He stood at +47 for 5 and was seeded 5th entering match play.  In Match Play, he made his move!  He went 3-0 with all good games!  He shot 222, 193, and 194 to advance into the tournament lead entering the finals.  In the title match, Brown took on #2 seed Kolbi Kuhn.  In a close final, Brown squeaked out a victory over Kuhn 189-179.  Desmond Brown won a $200 scholarship for his win and plaque.

There were no honor scores on this day.

Next week:  PJBT Major #7 is a BIG ONE!  The PJBT major events pay out extra scholarship but this event will be our $1 MILLION DOLLAR celebration.  The PJBT has now given away over $1 million dollars in scholarship.  We will celebrate by doing a bonus payout tournament at 222 Dutch Lanes on Super Bowl Sunday — Feb 4 — 10:30am.  Lots of extra surprises surround the event.  Don’t miss it!
