Jeremy Elder Ends Dominate Performance by Andy Carson to Win at Hanover Bowling Centre

The BuddiesProShop.com Adult Bowlers Tour continued with its 5th event of the season.  This event was held at our southern most point for the tour in PA….at Hanover Bowling Centre in Hanover, PA.  This event returned to Hanover for the first time in 2 years.  Last year’s event was cancelled due to a 30 inch snowstorm that hit the entire Northeast USA.

This year’s event was conducted on the WTBA Mexico City Pattern.  We had 29 bowlers competing in this year’s event.  Format for the event was 6 games qualifying.  After qualifying, the top 6 bowled a nfl bracket final with single elimination matches.  1/2 seeds got a bye and seeds 3-6 and 4-5 bowled 1 game match.  Winners advanced to bowl seeds 1-2 in a 1 game match.  Winners then advance to bowl each other for the title.

Jeremy Elder, from Delaware, brought home the title.  Elder started off slow but came on late to grab the victory.  He started with qualifying games of 186, 189, and 173.  After 3 of 6 qualifying games, he stood at -52.  Scores were low but he was still outside the top 6 cut at this point.  Then he turned on the jets!  He shot 232, 238, and 200 to finish qualifying at 1218 or +18.  Elder was the #5 seed of 6 entering the finals.  He trailed tournament leader Andy Carson by almost 200 pins!!  Carson had an amazing day…..dominating qualifying.  Carson came right out of the gate with a 290 game, high game for the day.  He followed it up with 245, 223, 249, and 175 for 1406 (+206).  Carson had a 142 pin lead on the field!!

In the finals, Elder kept it rolling!  His first match was against #4 seed Scott Canfield.  Elder made a run at perfection….but shot 289 in his match to defeat Canfield 289-193.  In the other semi-final, #3 seed Scott Denlinger took on #6 Tom Barna Jr.  This match came down the final shot….but in the end….Barna defeated Denlinger 218-211.

The #5 and #6 seeds then advanced to the semi-final matches vs #1 Andy Carson and our #2 seed Adam Baer.  Matches were #1 Carson vs #6 Barna & #2 Baer vs #5 Elder.  Carson defeated fairly easy Tom Barna in his match 223-171.  In the other match, Elder stayed hot….shooting 247 and winning 247-190.

This set up the title match – #1 Carson vs #5 Elder.  This was a classic match that went frame for frame.  In the end, Elder stopped the dominate train of Carson by winning a close match 189-184.  With the victory, Elder took home $1000 top cash prize.  FULL FIELD PAYOUTS BELOW.
