The PJBT continued its 22nd Season with a trip to ABC East Lanes in Harrisburg for our 2nd Major Event of the year.  On this day, we saw 75 bowlers come out for the event….39 in Scratch and 36 in Handicap.  Format was our normal Major 6 game qualifying format with first cut bowling 3 games of match play.  After 9 games, the top 6 bowlers went onto the major finals of 2 shootouts and 1 stepladder.

In Scratch, Parker Laubach of Bethlehem, PA captured his first ever Scratch Division title.  Laubach came out and led the field of 39 in Qualifying with games of 193, 227, 223, 243, 238, and 221 for +145.  He had a 59 pin lead on the field.  The first cut for 16th place was -22.  Parker lost the lead of the event in match play to Jordan Schell, who rolled a perfect 300 game during match play.  However, Laubach was seeded 2nd entering the finals.  He entered the finals in the 2nd shootout where he took on Brody Wildenmann & Francis Vitelli.  This match explained why in bowling you some skill and luck to win!  The shootout ended in a TIE between Laubach & Wildenmann at a score of 213.  The went to a 9th/10th frame rolloff.  Laubach left a 4 pin in the 10th frame and missed his spare shooting 28.  Wildenmann only need a mark in the 10th to win the rolloff.  He left a tricky 2-8 spare.  He had to make the spare to advance and chopped the 2 off of the 8.  He shot 27.  Laubach escaped the rolloff with a 1-pin victory 28-27.  This advanced him to the title match vs Jordan Schell.  Laubach started strong in the title match while Schell had both lanes playing different for him…which led to his demise.  Schell had one lake overhooking and the other lane sliding.  Laubach was able to take advantage and win the title match over Schell 212-173.  This win put $300 in scholarship in Laubach’s pocket and the trophy for the major win.

In Handicap, Andy Hoffman, of New Hope, PA, captured his first title of year.  Andy has been flirting with a victory since we got back to bowling.  He made the finals of our invitational weeks ago and finished 7th.  Last event, he finished 2nd.  Third time was the charm!  Hoffman entered the event with a 169 entering average and 27 pins handicap per game.  He shot scratch games of 199, 158, 201, 160, 178 and 138 for -4 after 6 games.  He was seeded 6th out of 36 bowlers in the field.  First cut for 14th place was -78.  Some wins and great games moved Hoffman up the leaderboard to the leader in match play.  He got the important bye to the title match in the day’s format.  In the title match, Hoffman took on #3 seed Kyle Thomas.  In a close match, Hoffman outlasted Thomas 190-171 to capture the victory and $300 scholarship/trophy.

Congrats to our only honor score of the day….Jordan Schell.  Jordan shot 300 during match play and captured $37 in scholarship out of the 300 Pot.

Thanks to all 75 bowlers who came out.  We gave away over $2000 in scholarships on the day.
