The Junior Gold Only Qualifier Tournament Series continued on Saturday, January 31, 2015. This event was #6 of 8 for the year. On this day, 32 bowlers in 6 different divisions took on 222 Dutch Lanes to advance to the Youth National Championship Tournament (Junior Gold) in July 2015.
On this day, we qualified 2 Under20 (u20) bowlers, 3 Under 15 (u15) bowlers, and 1 Under 12 (u12) bowler.
In the U20 divisions, we qualified the high boy and girl. For the boys, Alex Glinski captured the spot. Glinski shot 811 for his last 3 games of the 4 game qualifier. Glinski ended 4 games at +247. For the girls, Kelsey Hammons won her spot by being the only girl in her division to go plus. She shot 880 for 4 games and finished at +80.
In the U15 divisions, we had enough entries to qualify 2 Boys and 1 Girl. In the boys division, it was a battle. After 2 of 4 games, we had a 3-way tie for 1st. However, the final 2 games separated our qualifiers from the rest of the field. Dominic Ciochetto finished in 1st place at +40 (840) and 2nd place was Patrick Lawshell at +7 (807). Both won their Junior Gold spots. In the girls division, Haley Youker captured the Junior Gold spot. She went 847 for 4 games (+47). She captured the win by over 30 pins.
In the U12 division, Riley Celmer captured his Junior Gold spot. Celmer, after some months worth of trying….finally won his spot on this day. Celmer shot 789 (-11) for 4 games and won the division by over 100 pins.
With these 6 bowlers qualifying for Junior Gold….the PJBT has now qualified 28 bowlers for Junior Gold 2015 in Chicago.
