Courtney & Hook Capture Victory at Bowlero Hiester Lanes

The PJBT continued its 25th Anniversary Season with Event #2 – A regular season singles event at Bowlero Hiester Lanes in Reading, PA.

On this day, 57 Bowlers took to the lanes….33 in Scratch and 24 in Handicap.  The format was 5 games qualifying, the top 40% in each division advanced to the eliminator round where 2 additional games were bowled to get us down to the final 4.  We then had a 3-game stepladder to determine our winners.

In Scratch, Gavin Courtney captured his first title of the season.  Courtney had an all-star day, rolling our first honor score of the season.  He had a perfect 300 game during game 4 of qualifying.  Games of 221, 249, 245, 300, and 239.  In the eliminator round, he shot games of 279 and 259 to be the top seed entering the finals.  In the title match, Courtney took on Kory Nurse.  In a close competitive game, Courtney defeated Nurse 259-244 to capture the win.  Courtney’s win earned him $200 Scholarship and Trophy.

In Handicap, Lane Hook captured his first PJBT career title.  Hook entered the event with a 189 average and only got 9 pins per game.  He shot scratch games of 212, 237, 227, 160, and his highest 268 in game 5.  In the eliminator rounds, he shot 201 and 207 to maintain the top spot for the finals.  In the title match, Hook defeated #2 seed Nate Short in a very close match 213-211.  Hook won $200 Scholarship and Trophy.

Congrats also to Gavin Courtney on his perfect 300 Game / Matthew Pomian for his 11-in-a-row 297 Game & Austin Wolcott for his perfect 300 Game bowled on this day.

In all, we gave away $1440 in Scholarships to the top 7 in Scratch and 5 in Handicap plus sidepot winners.
