Legere & Szczepaniak Win Major #2 of Season

The PJBT continued its 25th Anniversary Season with our 2nd Major Singles Event – Event #3 Overall – at ABC East Lanes in Harrisburg, PA.

For this major event, 65 bowlers took to the lanes to compete for a major title.  We had 42 competing in the scratch division and 23 in Handicap.

Major Format was 6 Games Qualifying – Top 40% advance to 3 Additional Games of Match Play.  After 9 games, the top 6 bowlers advanced to the major format finals.  The finals was 2 shootout rounds (3 bowlers / top score advance) and the tournament leader received a bye to the head-to-head title match.

In Scratch, Johnny Legere captured his first PJBT title.  Johnny qualified 3rd out of 42 scratch bowlers during qualifying.  He shot +37 and was 1 of only 3 bowlers plus after qualifying.  After match play, Legere maintained his 3rd place position entering the 6 bowler final.  In the second shootout, Legere defeated Ryan Schultz & Ryan Lang 231-207-185.  Legere advanced to the title match to take on tournament leader Cody Brunner.  Legere got off to a hot start and never looked back.  Legere defeated Brunner 201-137 in route to victory.  Johnny Legere got a $300 Scholarship and Glass Bowling Pin for victory.

In Handicap, Aayden Szczepaniak captured his first PJBT title.  Aayden finished qualifying in 8th place of 10 bowlers advancing at -43.  In match play, Aayden won his matches and moved up to 3rd place entering the finals.  In his 2nd shootout, Szczepaniak defeated Filey Ingraham & Evan Hawkins 203-197-167.  In the title match, Szczepaniak took on tournament leader Brentin Sherman.  Szczepaniak was victorious 174-145 to win.  Aayden won a $300 Scholarship and Glass Bowling Pin.

In all, we paid out over to $2000 in Scholarships.  We paid out the top 8 in Scratch & 6 in Handicap plus bonus payouts for high girls.  Thanks to all 57 who came out.
