Wegert & Stahora Capture Victory in Major #3

The PJBT continued its 25th Anniversary Season with our 7th Event and 3rd Major Singles event of the Season.  The October major event was held at ABC North Lanes in Harrisburg.

The event saw 56 bowlers compete, 32 in Scratch and 24 in Handicap.  Format for this major was 6 games, top 40% advance to 3 games of match play.  Scores were carried forward.  At the completion of 9 games, the top 5 bowlers advanced to the major format final.  Game 1 was a shootout and 2 stepladder games to determine our champion.

In Scratch, Cameron Wegert captured his first title of the season.  In qualifying, Wegert went +12 and was in 5th place out of 32.  After 3 games of match play, Wegert maintained his #5 seed position entering the finals.  In the final, Wegert walked the ladder.  Wegert won the shootout over Cody Brunner & Austin Knepp 191-180-157.  In the semi-final, Wegert defeated #2 seed Blayze Denny 200-166.  In the title match, Wegert took down tournament leader Robbie Newcomer 245-203.  Cameron won a $300 Scholarship and Glass Bowling Pin for the Major Win.

In Handicap, Keerah Stahora got her first PJBT title.  Keerah shot -42 and was in 4th place after qualifying.  Her wins in match play propelled her into the #2 seed for the finals.  In the semi-final match, Stahora defeated Sydnee Kleckner 169-156.  This advanced her to the title match vs tournament leader Ben Strickland.  Stahora outlasted Strickland 183-155 to capture the win.  Keerah Stahora won a $300 Scholarship & Glass Bowling Pin for the title.

In all, we gave away over $1900 in scholarships with the prize list of Top 6 Scratch and 5 Handicap with Bonus High Girl Payouts.
