Multiple Winners Zimmerman & Skurzynski Capture Titles at East Lincoln

The PJBT continued its 17th Season with a Visit to East Lincoln Lanes in East York, PA.  East Lincoln Lanes is the smallest bowling center that the PJBT continues to visit with just 18 lanes.  As our tour as grown over the years….we have had to go to larger size centers due to interest.  However, with the center under new management, The Schnur Family, welcomed us back for another season.  Want to thank them again for their hospitality during the event.

We saw 45 bowlers take to the lanes on this day to compete for scholarships….we had 18 bowlers in Scratch and 27 in Handicap.  Tournament was conducted with a house lane condition and our normal singles event format.

On this day, Dylan Zimmerman, of Harrisburg, captured his 4th title of the year and his 6th overall PJBT title.  Zimmerman, who has been dominant during the middle events of this year….once again showed his abilities on this day.  Zimmerman led the Scratch field after qualifying with games of 259, 228, 223, 231, and 247.  Zimmerman stood at +188 while the 8th place 1st cut was +66.  In match play, Zimmerman shot 268 with a win, 221 with a win, and a 194 with a loss.  After 8 Games, he remained the tournament leader at +331 entering the stepladder final.  In the title match, Zimmerman took on Scott Schnur Jr.  Schnur Jr, who entered the finals as the #4 seed, won all the stepladder matches up to this point.  He defeated DJ Brown 217-216, Alex Glinski 224-186, and Nick Rynes 200-173.  The title match was a score-fest.  Dylan only missed striking twice and shot 268 to take the victory.  Zimmerman defeated Schnur Jr in the title match 268-235.  Zimmerman won the $200 top scholarship prize and plaque for his title.

In Handicap, Chloe Skurzynski captured her 2nd career PJBT title.  Chloe had won her 1st title earlier in the year at Jordan Lanes.  On this day, Skurzynski also led the qualifying round with +159.  She shot scratch games of 223, 222, 215, 198, and 226.  With her 15 pins handicap per game….she led the field by 39 pins entering match play.  The 12th place first cut was +46.  In Match Play, Chloe went 2-1 with games of 178, 246, and 212.  She stood at +300 after 8 games and was the leader entering the finals.  The finals on this day were somewhat awkward in Handicap.  We only had 3 matches.  There was a bowler who made the finals that was determined before his match that he used the wrong average for this event.  Being it was not his 1st event of the year…bowlers are responsible to know the rules of averages in Handicap.  The bowler was disqualified and everyone who finished 3rd thru 6th on this day were propelled up on the payout board.  This bowler was the 2nd seed before being disqualified.  So, Chloe Skurzynski took on #4 seed Lauren Bowersox in an all-girls final match.  Bowersox had won her first 2 stepladder matches, which moved her into the finals.  The title match was close throughout.  In the end, Skurzynski outlasted Bowersox 194-176 to take home the title and the $200 top scholarship prize.

No award scores were bowled on this day so our 300 Pot carried over to next week.

Big Thanks to Josh & Jason Althouse for handling this event on a day when I was running our BuddiesProShop.com Adult Bowlers Event.  See earlier headline!
