Saldi & Johnson Win 2nd Girls Only Event of Year at Jay

The PJBT’s second all-girls event was held at Jay Lanes in Douglassville. 19 girls made the trip this past Saturday.

Kiearra Saldi of Taylor, near Scranton, won her first title in the scratch division. She qualified 4th, rolling games of 203, 202, 161, 189, and 233 on Sunset Strip for minus 12. Cut was minus 52. She was the only semifinalist to win all three of her matches, with 237, 246, and 226. Saldi took the lead at plus 187.

In the stepladders, #4 Ashley Sham defeated #3 Katelyn Musselman, 199-176, but lost to #2 Morgan Daub, 196-176. In the final with Saldi, Daub converted a 5-10 split in the 8th to stay alive. Saldi strung four straight strikes, then filled 20 in the 10th to win, 204-190, and win the $250 scholarship.

Jewel Johnson of Harrisburg also won her first title, in handicap. She qualified 2nd, with scores of 160, 161, 190, 214, and 234. Paired with 26 pins per game, she was plus 89. Cut was plus 21. Despite losing her first two matches with 180 and 177, she shot 257 in her third match and won, to move back into 2nd at plus 211.

#3 Haven Harrington defeated #4 Madison Brenneman in the opening stepladder match, 199-181, but fell to #2 Johnson, 211-168. In the final against #1 Jadelyn Swisher, Johnson struck in the 9th and 10th to clinch a 208-171 win. Jewel earned the $250 scholarship.

The next all-girls event is Sunday, December 23rd at 10:30AM at East Lincoln Lanes in York County.

The April 6th, 2019 event has been moved to Haja Rose Bowl.
