The PJBT ran its 35th Event of the 2016-2017 with a travel to the Northern Part of PA.  The PJBT traveled to Stanton Lanes for our Annual Adult Junior Event in Wilkes-Barre, PA.  On this day, we had 51 teams or 102 bowlers competing.  Pattern was house for event but Stanton Lanes always provides a challenge….as they have 50 wood-style lanes that provides an interesting challenge for our competitors.  Format was 5 games for all….top 40% of teams bowl 3 additional games of qualifying….after 8 games, top 4 teams advance to the 1-game winner-take-all final.

In Scratch, Anthony Neuer & Brandon Runk captured the win.  Neuer and Runk started off slow but turned it on late to make it in the finals and then bowled an amazing final game to win.  In qualifying, they shot team games of 343, 370, 454, 490, and 390.  They stood at +47 after 5 and make the first cut.  In Round 2, they squeaked their way into the finals with games of 483, 427, and 451.  After 8 games, they stood at +108 or 3408.  This was enough for them to qualify as the #4 seed of 4 for the finals.  In the 1 game winner-take-all final was the following teams:  top seeds Dylan Zimmerman & Mike Runk / #2 seed Daniel Althouse & Kasea Bauscher / #3 seed Darren Zombro III and Zombro Jr and #4 Neuer/Runk.  In the title match, Neuer shot his high game of the day with 278.  This score was combined with Runk’s 251 for a team score of 529.  The 529 was the highest team game bowled of the day….and at the best time!  They won the title shooting 529 while Althouse/Bauscher finished 2nd with 450…..Zombro/Zombro 3rd with 440…. and 4th Zimmerman/Runk with 426.  Anthony Neuer won a $200 scholarship for his win and the plaque while his partner, Brandon Runk, received $150 cash and a plaque for his win.

In Handicap, The Cron Family, Alex & William, got their first ever PJBT title.  Unlike Neuer/Runk, the Cron’s were near the top of the leaderboard all day.  The Cron’s entered the event with a team average of 329 and was receiving 63 pins a game.  They shot qualifying games of 379, 325, 345, 370, and 412 scratch.  They followed the first 5 games up with games of 376, 345, and 400 in Round 2.  After 8 games, they stood at +256 or 3456 and had an over 100 pin lead on the handicap field.  Cron’s were the tournament leader entering the final game.  They took on #2 seed Sarah Fenicle/Chris Celmer….#3 seed MariBeth & Jason Baker….and #4 seed Emma & Tom Biniek (Beans).  This title match came down to the last frame.  In the end, the Cron’s won the title with a team game of 451.  2nd place finishers were the Biniek’s with 435….3rd place to Baker’s at 426 and 4th place to Fenicle/Celmer at 405.  Alex Cron won a $200 top scholarship prize and plaque while dad William won a $150 cash prize and plaque for his win.

Thanks to all 102 who came out on this day.  We gave away lots of prizes in this final regular season adult junior event.

Congrats also to Brandon Runk who rolled a perfect 300 game during qualifying….but was not in the 300 POT.  The pot carries over to our next event on Sunday, May 14 at ABC North Lanes in Harrisburg.  Please note that the May 6th event originally scheduled has been cancelled….so May 14 is our next event.  ABC North Harrisburg 10:30am on 5/14.
